Rachel the Awesome´s Post
This is Rachel the Awesome´s post: So! Here we are in Argentina, where keyboards are insanely complex and it is boiling hot. Not even joking. Seriously. We got into Buenos Aires on Monday, even though we left on Sunday (I swear! Those airplanes need more room!) where we stayed in the Circus Hotel and Hostel. We stayed in Buenos Aires for three days, in which time we saw La Casa Rosa, the really big national cathedral (no idea what it´s called) ate tons of delicious food (empanadas, lomo, pizza, that sort of thing<9 and visited La Recoleta, lots of taxis, my parents buying tango shoes, and my parents going tangoing. At three o´clock on Wednesday afternoon, we boarded a double-decker over night bus (we got the upper floor) and headed for Puerto Madryn. On the way there, they played at least forty horrible songs and three movies (two of which were Kung Fu Panda 2 and Red, I didn´t pay any attention to whatever the third one was). We were all more than willing to get off that bus nineteen hours later. The darned bus never went above forty-five mph. After we left B.A., it was all trees and fields. However, when we woke up, it was low shrubs/grass for miles on end. When we reached the hostel (we walked those trecherous six blocks from the bus terminal. sarcasm.) we dropped our stuff in our room and and went to find something to eat. Unlike B.A., there was a grand total of two taxis that we saw. Anyway, we decided that we would walk along the beach (in the eighty degree weather) until we found a place to eat. We finally found a hamburger stand and the hamburgers were square. When we got back to our room at the hostel, I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This was not pleasant, as it was the only Harry Potter book I had brought. Now I am typing this on the computer downstairs and getting extremely annoyed. Who knew keyboards in Argentina were completly different from the ones in the United States? Signing off, Rachel the Awesome.

Rachel - I have a very vivid picture of your adventure so far, thanks to your good writing skills. Just checked iPhone weather and see that it was 91 degrees F there today. Then checked Google maps and see that it was a long trip from Buenos Aires to Puerto Madryn. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with Argentina through the Demaree Adventure. Let me know if you want me to send you another book! Sending lots of love to all of you! Kathy

8D I've missed you so much! We had the first day of co-op yesterday and it was SOOO lame without you! I didn't even get to not pay attention in Greek and Latin! ;) (It helped that I wasn't even in the class, lol) Light science was fun, I finished all me research today. I wrote like, a page of notes. I feel like I'm going to walk into class, read my mini-report and Mrs. Unruh will hug me! xD
Sarah's acting class was super fun, but there's so many people! Like, 16 kids or something. It's crazy. Really fun too, but I really wish you were there. :'( Lol we played these games where you had to remember all this stuff and the people that told you the stuff and the stuff you said them to, it got really confusing.
Mom's speech class was ok, but I didn't like the topic she picked for open/unprepared debate. It was: Which candy bar is the best? And we had a few set ones. We split up into teams and had to come up with reasons why ours was the best. >.> I'm all, "Mom, you can't debate which candy bar is the best. You just can't," but she wouldn't listen to me. Anyways, I think I'm going to like that class.
D8 YOU ONLY BROUGHT ONE BOOK?!
Address. Now. Give it to me. I'm going to send you... Sebastian Reckless 1 maybe? If I have it I'll try and send it to you. As long as you bring it back. Haha
I miss seeing you like crazy! I can't wait till March 3rd!

P.S. What's the deal with your iPod? I tried texting it but it wouldn't let me.. Did you not bring it? I was thinking that was most likely the case. :P
P.P.S. We went and saw Romeo and Juliet at the Center House Theater. It was ok, but I've seen way better productions of it. The audience was pretty good, considering they're a bunch of weirdo public schoolers. ;) But trust me, you didn't miss out on much.
Molly. the wi fi here is weird so i cant text people. SAD! i actually brought three books: HP 7, The Umbrella of the Gardeners Aunt is in the house, and a book called Hide and Seek.
ReplyDeleteYou can probably find book exchanges!! Not the greatest selection ... but in English.
ReplyDeleteSquare hamburgers sound weird ... did you take a picture?
